This fall we are delighted to partner with the Bath Area Family YMCA as the host site for our Bears and Cubs program, which was established for children waiting for a long-term match with an adult Community-Based Big. This program is a partnership between BBBS and Bowdoin College’s McKeen Center for the Common Good, matching waiting children one-to-one with a screened and trained Bowdoin College student mentor to spend time together on campus. Due to the limitations of visitors inside buildings on the Bowdoin College campus, we sought an alternative location for our Bears and Cubs matches to meet. The YMCA is enthusiastic about welcoming Bigs and Littles for 10 sessions from October through April. Bowdoin volunteers and BBBS Staff will have the opportunity to become belay certified to support Littles using the rock wall, and matches will enjoy access to the basketball court, indoor track, ping-pong and foosball tables, and two sessions of swimming! For more information on this and other programs, contact Aurora, our Program Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
